Tuesday – July 9, 2019
We will depart Louisville this morning and travel north to Indianapolis for a morning break. We will continue on to Fort Wayne, IN for lunch. Our afternoon travels take us to Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, MI “Little Bavaria”. The sights, sounds, and spirit of Christmas completely surround you at this amazing store, which is the size of one and half football fields, overflowing with 50,000 trims and gifts. We will overnight in the quaint village of Frankenmuth at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott. After we check-in, a family style chicken dinner awaits us at the world-famous Bavarian Inn Restaurant (included). D
Wednesday – July 10, 2019
We depart for Mackinac City where we board for our lighthouse cruise after lunch. Five Lake Michigan lighthouses and stunning coastline views of Wilderness State Park are the hallmark attractions of the three-hour Shepler’s Westbound Cruise that will pass directly under the Mackinac Bridge. Expert guides from the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association explain unique construction of lighthouses as you see the Mackinac Bridge, Old Mackinac Point Light, White Shoal Light, Gray’s Reef Light, Waugoshance Light and St. Helena Light. A variety of snacks, beverages, sandwiches and candy are available to purchase while on our cruise. After our cruise, we will board the ferry to Mackinac Island, where we will check into the beautiful Lakeview Hotel, located in the heart of the historic village, (home for the next 2 nights). B
Thursday – July 11, 2019
This morning we will explore the island on a Carriage Tour. The carriage will drop us off at the world famous Grand Hotel for their legendary Grand Luncheon Buffet, a distinct highlight of the Grand Hotel. After lunch, we will board taxis for transportation downtown Mackinac Island, where the remainder of the day is free to enjoy this amazing island. You may stroll the shops, walk some of the endless nature trails, or just enjoy the hotel. Don’t forget to pick us some famous Mackinac Island fudge!! B, L
Friday – July 12, 2019
Today promises to be a fascinating adventure into the past at Castle Farms, a great destination with lush gardens, model railroads and historic stone walls and towers. We will enjoy a guided tram tour of the farms and gardens before. Don’t forget to visit the 1918 Museum full of memorabilia from the Great War. After our tour, we will be served a royal luncheon!! The fun isn’t over just yet!! After lunch, we will take a guided tour of the Earl Young Mushroom Houses. You will marvel at the unique stone dwellings, cedar shake roofs and natural aesthetics, something you have to see to believe. We will overnight in West Branch, MI. B, L
Saturday – July 13, 2019
Enjoy breakfast at the Lumber Jack Restaurant before our return trip home. We will arrive back in Louisville at approximately 6:00 PM. B
