Day 1
Depart Louisville and travel to Charlottesville, VA to overnight.

Day 2
Arrive today in the OuterBanks where we will check into our oceanfront / oceanview hotel for the next 4 nights. Dinner is included this evening. B,D

Day 3
This morning we visit the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Wind, sand, and a dream of flight brought Wilbur and Orville Wright to Kitty Hawk, where, after 4 years of scientific experimentation, they achieved the first successful airplane flight on December 17, 1903. Lunch (on your own) and shopping in the Town of Duck. Visit Currituck Beach Lighthouse, the only North Carolina lighthouse still housed in its original structure. Tour the Whalehead Club, a beautifully restored 1920's-era style mansion and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.B,D

Day 4
Today highlights include: Cape Hatteras National Seashore- the nation's 1st national seashore. Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum-A unique museum dedicated to preserving the rich maritime history of the Outer Banks and the more than 2,000 known shipwrecks. Cape Hatteras Light- the tallest brick beacon on the American coast. North Carolina Oyster Tasting-locally farmed Cape Hatteras Oysters on the half shell. Bodie Island Light.B,D

Day5
Fort Raleigh National Historic Site- the site of the first attempted English Colony, where Sir Walter Raleigh's explorers established settlements in 1585 & 1587. It would later become known as "The Lost Colony" after 116 settlers disappeared. Elizabeth Gardens - Stroll through the majestic Gardens, designed as a living memorial to Queen Elizabeth and The Lost Colony. Island Farm - Roanoke Island Festival Park - Outer Banks Rum Tasting. B,D

Day 6
Today we will visit Thomas Jefferson's Monticello House & Grounds Tour. We will return to the Hilton Garden Inn in Charlottesville to overnight.B

Day 7
After breakfast, we will begin our journey home. We will arrive home early this evening.
