Wednesday – October 17, 2018
We will depart this morning for our Southern Garden tour. We will visit Biltmore Estate (audio tour included) this afternoon with time to explore Antler Hill Village and their famous Biltmore Winery. Take time to stroll acres of formal and informal gardens designed by America’s foremost landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. We will overnight in Asheville, NC.
Thursday – October 18, 2018
l Welcome to the South y’all!!
We will depart the hotel this morning and travel to beautiful Charleston. We will arrive in time for lunch and shopping at the Old City Market – Charleston’s #1 most visited attraction, also one of the nation’s oldest public markets and the cultural heart of Charleston. We will check into the Hilton Garden Inn, where we will overnight the next 3 nights. Dinner is included this evening at the famous Charleston Crab House.
Friday – October 19, 2018
After breakfast we will travel to Magnolia Gardens, one of “America’s Most Beautiful Gardens” (Travel + Leisure Magazine) and is the only garden honored with this distinction in the State of South Carolina. Experience history and wildlife on the tram tour of the plantations wetlands, lakes, forest, and marshes. Naturalist guides help you spot alligators, turtle and more in native habitats. We will also tour Magnolia’s unique Plantation House. Enjoy a boxed lunch included at Magnolia Gardens. We will visit Charleston Tea Plantation, America’s only working tea plantation. We will tour the factory and take a narrated trolley ride through the fields. Enjoy some fresh iced tea while browsing their amazing gift shop. This evening we travel to Patriot’s Point, home of the USS Yorktown, where we will board the Spirit of Carolina for their dinner cruise, a four course dinner made to order using fresh local ingredients. We cruise Charleston’s Harbor, past Fort Sumter, along the Battery and beneath Ravenel Bridge by moon light while enjoying entertainment from live and local musicians, a truly magical night. (dress code is “Resort Casual”)
Saturday – October 20, 2018
This morning we depart the hotel for a Historic Charleston tour (by land) full of 300 years of history and numerous local landmarks including the Battery Park, Fort Sumter, Charleston Harbor,Rainbow Row, and the Citadel, just to name a few. The highlight of this outing will be a visit to the Joseph Manigault House, considered one of the finest examples of Adamesque Architecture in the country. The tour will end at Old City Market, where you will have time for lunch and browsing. After lunch, we will enjoy the sights of Charleston the way your ancestors did, aboard a horse-drawn carriage. This evening, enjoy the dining experience of the Upper Level at Magnolias, an extraordinary dining experience in an elegant atmosphere.
Sunday – October 21, 2018
This morning we depart Charleston, but the fun isn’t over yet. Our travels take us to the beautiful Smoky Mountains. For our farewell dinner, we will become part of the longest running feud in history and help the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s (dinner show) try to settle their differences mountain-style. Whether you’re city folk or country cuzins, you’ll love the singing and dancing, mighty feats of strength, jaw dropping stunts and side-splitting comedy all while partaking in a full southern home-style feast. We will overnight in Pigeon Forge.
Monday – October 22, 2018
We will depart the hotel and travel to the outlets in Pigeon Forge, departing after lunch for our return trip home. We will stop at the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea for our afternoon break, arriving home early this evening.
